Underneath Dorchester Square, lies the graves of 55,000 19th century Montrealers who died from multiple episodes of cholera. 150 years later, from the referendum to the beheading of the John A. McDonald statue, the square continues to be at the heart of the melee of Quebec’s social conflicts.
